Pivot Dance Club offers a full range of partnership dances for your enjoyment. These dances include Ballroom dances, Latin dances, Rhythm dances, Smooth dances, and Country dances, both in private lessons and group lessons. Our teaching is based upon the DVIDA syllabus, which is the recommended professional qualification by the National Dance Council of America, and the most respected dancing syllabus in the United States. Our highly qualified and skilled staff have all been competitive dancers themselves and can offer a wealth of experience to make your dance journey both fun and informative. Whether you want a special dance for your wedding, the ability to feel at home on the dance floor at a business function or gala, or just to experience the sheer joy of moving to music with your partner, we can help you to reach your goals quickly and with a minimum of stress.

A SPECIAL NIGHT If you want to hit the Latin clubs, then we can offer you salsa, merengue, bachata and cumbia. If it’s Country that is your passion, then we have two step, country waltz, country cha cha, swing, and polka. For the young (and not so young) couples about to be married, we can choreograph a piece of music of your choice in a way that makes your dreams come true on the dance floor and leaves a lifelong impression on all those attending your wedding. YOUR HEALTH In addition to the social and personal benefits of dance, there is a now a wealth of research on the superior health benefits of dance. To quote an article published recently in AARP magazine.

“Dancing can be magical and transforming. It can breathe new life into a tired soul; make a spirit soar; unleash locked-away creativity; unite generations and cultures; inspire new romances or rekindle old ones; trigger long-forgotten memories; and turn sadness into joy, if only during the dance.”

On a more physical level, dancing can give you a great full mind-body workout. Researchers are learning that regular physical activity in general can help keep your body, including your brain, healthy as you age. Exercise increases the level of brain chemicals that encourage nerve cells to grow, and dancing that requires you to remember dance steps and sequences boosts brain power by improving memory skills. There has been some excellent research in this area, according to Rita Beckford M.D., a family doctor and spokesperson for the American Council on Exercise. For instance, a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that ballroom dancing at least twice a week made people less likely to develop dementia. Research also has shown that some people with Alzheimer’s disease are able to recall forgotten memories when they dance to music they used to know.
